Evangelist Billy Sunday

William Sunday was born in 1862 in Ames, Iowa, USA, destined to become on the greatest preachers of all time. It is said that the Lord called him while a baseball star to the Gospel ministry. To say that he was a colorful evangelist is to say the least; in this aspect, he could be compared to China's dramatic preacher John Sung. B Sunday received huge exposure on the media for all his campaigns. He used colorful, slangy language, tailored his messages with mimicry and impersonations and memorable epigrams and anecdotes. Apart from some eccentricities he was a no-nonsence Gospel preacher standing on the Rock of salvation alone through the blood shed of Christ. He stood for the reliability of the Bible. He died in 1935.

Short Video: The PostMillennial Idealistic Society

The way one interprets Eschatology makes one look at society and government accordingly. The PostMillennial viewpoint believes that Christians should be involved in all spheres of socio-political activities so as to leaven the lump, i.e. christianize society and the world. An extreme arm of PostMillennialism is the Christian Reconstruction group led by Rousas Rushdoony, his son-in-law Gary North and others like Gary deMar. Reconstructionists believe that the Kingdom of God is now on earth and it is up to believers to take on the reins of government to put in place God's kingdom in readiness for the Second Coming of Christ.

Theirs is a well-meaning but misguided form of Christianised Idealism, given the way the world is heading. What about the natural catastrophes such as the Fukushima nuclear leakout due to the major earthquake off the Japanese coast? What about the Middle East uprisings? What about the Economic Meltdown of 2008? The reality of the sad world is different from the idealistic scenario the Reconsructionists and PostMillennialists would have us believe. In the short video deMar puts down the Dispensationalist literal method of interpreting Scripture. However, the PostMillennial hermeneutic is spiritualising Scripture, opening the door for liberalism and Deconstructionism, in reality opening the Pandora's Box of misinterpretations.

Don't rush to claim Celebrity Jane Fonda "Born Again"

I remember when the term "Born Again" was used of Charles Colson when he was converted to Christ and wrote a bestseller book by the same name, i.e. "Born Again". In his case his later history confirmed that he was really a genuine Christian, being counselled by godly Evangelical teachers. His Prison Ministry and his socio-political activism show the fruits of a Christian conversion.

But we should not rush to name every claiming Celebrity "born again". Certainly not actress Jane Fonda. Not by her own words, as recorded in her interview with CNN's Larry King. She is more into Feminism than into Christianity.

There are cases of spiritual "abortion" and this appears to be one such.

China's Govt crackdown on unregistered Shou Wang Church in Beijing

The Third Face of Christianity in China is seen in the Shou Wang unregistered church in Beijing. The first face of China's Church is the 3-Self Government controlled church. The second face of the Church in China is the Underground churches in the rural areas. Now in the cities along the urban coast of China, in metropolitan cities and even in Beijing have sprouted unregistered urban churches meeting in offices and condos. This is the latest phenomenon the Christianity growing in China among the upper class of mobile urban professionals including doctors, lawyers, professors, computer savy executives and business entrepreneurs. One such church is the Shou Wang unregistered church meeting in an apartment in the central business district of Beijing. The authorities had kept a closed eye on such churches until lately when they closed down the apartment where the Shou Wang church used to meet. This Easter Sunday this church wanted to meet in a public place but found the proposed place cordoned off by the police. The police then loaded some of these believers on to a bus and took them away. Something like what happened to the famous artist activist Wei Wei.
