Vain Hope or Assured Hope

I   AM    the resurrection and the life; the person who believes in

Me, though he were dead, yet he shall live. And whoever lives and

believes in Me  shall never die.”

          John’s Gospel chapter 11, verses 25 to 26.

In many Western movies, at the burial of any dead person, a minister will quote Biblical verses such as the above verses.
Verse 25 of the two is a favourite verse spoken most often at funerals.

The European/American mind hopes for the dead person to be resurrected in a coming day and be with the Lord.

But this hope is vain in many cases, because the dead has never truly believed in the Lord Jesus for his/her soul’s eternal salvation.
Such a hope is a mere delusion. You have to believe in Jesus as the Son of God, that He died for your sins and rose again from the dead.

Then your hope will be an assured certainty because it rests on the Word of God.
